Redford Charter Township – Commercial Wood Doors

Redford Charter Township received it’s name from pioneers and Indians after the River Rouge that runs through the heart of the township.

The French word ‘rouge’ translates ‘Red’. The township of Redford used to extend all the way to Greenfield Road until the roaring city of Detroit annexed the East side of Redford Township in the early 1920’s. After Redford Township was granted ‘charter’ status in 1918 the city Detroit eventually ceased it’s annexation in 1926. Redford Township covers 11.2 square miles and posted a population of 48,362 in the 2010 census. The legendary musician Ted Nugent & arena football player Stephen Wasil also call Redford Township their birthplace.
